What are the best buys in sterling deposit accounts?

My thought is that I transfer my lump sum euro into Nationwide UK Ireland and then start saving in sterling on a monthly basis into a sterling account (have sterling income) and spend the lump sum. Or should I send all of my euro over to a UK sterling account? I want to do whatever is safest.

If I do save sterling then what are the best buys?
