I have 2 young kids (5 & 7) who have stumbled accross a few risque websites recently. Is there a half-decent free web content filter out there? Anyone recommend a product.

Try the following;

The Internet Advisory Board ([broken link removed]) have published a booklet for parents to help them appreciate Internet safety called “Get with IT” ([broken link removed]. It is quite good and includes a useful list of resources at the end.

There is also the Webwise site which has a good range of resources, such as a 20 minute video () and also information on social networking sites ([broken link removed].

Other useful websites
(Safer Internet Day website)
Http://www.makeitsecure.ie (Irish Government website on internet security)
http://www.kidsafe.com/
http://www.kidsafe.com/ebooks/Internet safety Report.pdf
http://www.tuki.com/ - a child friendly browser

If you want to report child related contect that you think may be illegal then contact Hotline (http://www.hotline.ie).

Also interested in this post as have two small children "surfing" these days and just want to be sure! Anyone any recommendations for FREE downloads from safe secure sources to ensure this.

I have used K9 for some time now and find it very effective - offers a variety of settings levels to protect kids and also gives a detailed account of internet activity including sites visited, dates and times etc.
