Walkie-Talkies: re frequencies how do they work? Are they illegal in any way?

Wanted to buy a set of these for various reasons. With regard to frequencies how do they work? Are they illegal in any way?

Check on amazon. I think that they have a range of about 2 miles and they are perfectly legal as long as they stick to the allowed frequencies.

On ebay at the moment just checking them out. I'm hoping I could use them to reduce phone bill of new business, just wasn't sure about the legality of it all!

Yes Fully legal
but it is an open frequency so any one could hear what is said , Also no guarantee of no interference .

Dont forget, range depends a lot on terrain and weather conditions.

We operate out in the open normally. Skype is actually something I'm hoping to set up soon anyway. It seems like a really cheap and efficent way to communicate.
