Hi, hope someone can give some advice. I will post as much info as I can if more needed please let me know.

My income €66500
Husband €31000(new job).
His payslip says((((((((((( THIS EMPLOYMENT: Cumulative tax. PRSI A1. Gross Pay 3198.41. BIK 0. PAYE 1067.51.
PRSI (EE) 103.33. PRSI (EE & ER) 433.32. Insurable weeks 9. USC 153.25. Tax Credit 687.50. Cut Off 10,333.33. (all above under cumulative section this employment?)))))))))))

THIS MONTH: Basic Pay 2583.33.
under deduction section: PAYE 1067.51.
PRSI (EE) 103.33
USC 104.04.

He got a first pay packet(last month for one week period) and it seemed a bit high, it was for one week - has he now been charged extra tax in this first monthly pay?

No idea at all about tax etc sorry.

My cut off is 17833.35 year to date according to my own pay slip if that helps.

Do you have both your certificate of tax credits?
If you have :tax credit for you
tax credit for spouse
SRCOP for you
SRCOP for spouse
Are you jointly assessed?
If you have your own P60 for tax year 2015 as well.

Thanks vandriver my personal tax credit is 3300. I get medical insurance relief of 200.
My husbands Paye tax credit is 1650.

My husband started a new job last week in April, he got paid of or week of April and I have just noticed he paid no tax in that salary details as follows: basic pay 615.08. Paye 0. Prsi 0. Use 49.21

Is that why pay is less this month as paying tax owed from that wage?

Are our tax credits divided in the best way. I'm not sure what srcop is ?

On my tax credit document it states rate band 1 the amount of your income taxable at 20% 67600
All income over 67600 is at 40%

The maximum available at the 20% tax rate for a couple both working is €67,600 .You have taken,or were given all of this,so your spouse will pay 40% on all his wages, less the PAYE credit .
The reason that there was no tax on the first week was that the tax credit is granted evenly throughout the year so you have to catch up,if you have no income early in the year.

..Edit...
You don't have 67,600 at standard rate.You have 42,800.(17833/5*12)

The cumulative section of this monthly pay packey states 10,333 for 'this employment'. He was employed earlier in the year paying tax prsi etc that does that make a difference?

Can you explain how we could owe money?
I did irish tax rebates earlier in year and got a small refund so would an amount owed not have showed up?

Yes sorry my tax credit and rate band states 20% yearly 42800. Husband 20% 24800

Does this mean that if his wages at old job were 25/26k and they have gone to 31 k we end up being down money? Very confused

Vandriver I have edited my first post as I am sorry I don't think it was very clear. Hope this helps.

Thanks Protocol but it hasn't in this wage, his pay packet says he is on cumulative tax(which I think means its not emergency) but his net has definitely gone down compared to what it was in the last job.

Is that because he didn't pay tax in the one week pay from last month so they are taking it out of this month? and his wages will be normal next month?

Did your husband have another job in 2016?
If so,you need the details from his p45 as well.

Yes he had another job in 2016, he finished that job on 19th May and started new one before end of May.

I will get his p45 details tonight and post them, thanks
