hi i my dad has a vista dell laptop and has got a new sata hdd to put xp on but it is saying no hdd when installing xp ?
can any one help ?????
i think i rember reading it is a setting in the bios you chang but cant find were i read it ..........
you may need to find drivers for the hard disk I know our IT guy in work had to do this when reformatting some of the newer machines. The XP installers don't recognise all the new disks.
You need to press F6 during the early stages of the installation of XP. You will be prompted to do use. At that point, insert a floppy disc with the drivers for the SATA HDD. (Get these from the vendors website)
