Visa Debtit Card

I was issued with new BOI Debit Card in the last month or so.
I have noticed that several, but not all, shops and garages in my area do not now offer cashback - this was available with my old Laser card.

Is this a problem with my card, or is it a function of the Merchant not being up to date with the software?

Very frustrating.

I have had an Ulster Bank Visa debit for a while now and while I rarely get cash back, it is often offered to me, so you could be right in saying that the problem is more on the merchant side rather than your card.

Depends on the merchant all right, and I see some even have put a cap on how much cash back you can have, Supervalue for instance is about €100.

Lidl & Aldi do not give CB

The merchant fees for Visa Debits are much higer than the old Laser cards. Merchants have to pay a % for the pleasure of giving you your own money, with Laser they paid a standard fee. So some of them are restricting the amount of CB they are ging out.

That's why most places have minimum purchase value for card transactions.

Visa is great for the banks though. That's why it's everywhere.

Does AIB issue Visa Debit cards?

They sent me a replacement laser/atm card last week.
