After searching the forums it seems that the VHI will cover the extraction of wisdom teeth by a dental surgeon if referred by a dentist but I'm not sure about the following case.
My father is on blood thinners for a heart condition and his dentist won't do an extraction because of the risk of bleeding so he recommended that he call the Dental Hospital for an appointment. He did that and has been on the waiting list for over ten months. The tooth is very painful and there is no sign of an appointment nor can the Dental Hospital give him any indication of when they might be able to offer him one.
If his dentist was to refer him to a dental surgeon would his VHI Plan B cover this?
