Hello,

I own a company here in Ireland and we buy our goods from suppliers here in Ireland. We are setting up a sale to a company in the UK and have a few questions about VAT.

So both my company and the UK company are registered for VAT. My company will be charged VAT when we buy the goods from our supplier.

This is what my understanding is: We pay VAT on the goods we buy from our supplier, then do not charge VAT to our UK customer, then reclaim the VAT we paid when purchasing the goods from our supplier?

Is this correct or am I missing something?

Would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Correct, if you can verify the VAT number of the UK company and satisfy yourself that they are VAT registered. You should also record the export of goods/services on your VAT 3 form.
