Hi All,
Earlier this year I moved out of my home as I had to move for work and rented my home to a tenant. At the time I immediately arranged to de-register for TRS as I understand that you are supposed to do.
I got a snooty letter from the Revenue Comissioners this week to state that I was overpaid mortgage interest relief for this year by my lender. (it would appear that the bank did not change my details) and that I have two weeks to pay it back.
Firstly I think its very unfair that they send out these letters and demand payment so quickly, I only get paid monthly and dont have 800 spare to cough up straight away, but my main issue is who's fault it this?
When I de-registered for TRS should Revenue have contacted the bank? Or would this have been the banks mistake?
