TV bought on hire purchase but no D/D ever called for?

Some weeks ago my son purchased a television via a HP style facility. Since he signed up he has not heard from the company he purchased the TV from nor has he heard from the company that issued the credit to purchase the product. Nobody has called for his D/D repayment each month.

His bank also told him they did not receive instructions for a D/D from said credit provider.

He contacted the company involved as he was concerned that he would be accused of not paying or theft or something crazy but they told him they had no record on file belonging to him. This is all very strange as he issued them with bank statements, id etc.

Where does he stand now?

Looks like an administrative cock up at the very least. I would get your son to put the DD money aside so that when the company go looking for the money, he has it. I would also go back to the store and demand they dig out his info. I would be concerned about the possibility of identity theft if an employee did this deliberately.
