travel insurance cancellations claim

Hi folks,

My mother has booked a holiday in june and it has cost 1600 but this needs to be cancelled now due to my father recent heart attack, can anyone tell me does the insurance company refund the whole 1600 and pay the travel company the cancellation fee.

Need help to get this sorted quickly

Emma, sorry for your troubles, I hope your father recovers well. The travel insurance policy document should tell you what and how much is covered. If you can't get your hands on that, then you should take the position that you ASSUME that all costs will be refunded. Don't ask, present for full refund. Do you have the policy documents?

I think you will be asked to produce letter from attending doctor.
Then the excess is all that should be deducted from your claim. This amoun is stated on the policy, is usually around €200, Good luck Browtal
