top slice relief ireland

Hi All,

I just got a simple question. I worked in Ireland for 18 months from Sept. 2007 till May 2009. Only now my ex employer is going to pay a lump sum.
Since the taxation is very high on it, I was thinking to apply for a top slice relief. Looking over it seems that this method is applied considering an average rate of tax for the previous 3 tax years.
Having worked for 18 months in Ireland and then back home town, is still this method applicable?

Many Thanks

Alessandro

Hi Ralex

Without meaning to pry, what was the lump sum for? You wouldn't have been entitled to a redundancy until you were with your employer for two years.
