Hi all,
Thanks to everyone who posts here, I have found all info to date very beneficial.
However, I am still totally confused! I have just turned 30 and feel it's time to get heatlh insurance. I have no medical conditions and am healthy and well at the moment. We hope to start a family in the next two years but friends have advised that even though they have private medical insurance they have done the pregnancy/birth publically.
The plans I have been looking at range from 800-1110. Ideally I want a plan that covers me in a semi private room in a public and private hospital. I would like access to the Beacon, Hermitage etc (we are Dublin based). I visit the GP maybe 3 times per year so the outpatient claims probably arent as important to me. I know there are 100s of plans to suit my needs but I would really appreciate some direction as I just cannot narrow it down.
Thanks in advance, Sue

Probably a good starting point is to use the Laya feature on their website where you can enter what type of cover you are looking for and it will suggest one:
https://www.layahealthcare.ie/create/

Then on the HIA.ie site they are a very good function to allow you to compare that scheme with other schemes. The HIA site lists prices also.

As a scheme to benchmark against, you will see a lot of threads here recommending the Laya Simplicity plan which comes is at €1087.
It has cover for The Blackrock Clinic, the Mater Private and the Beacon Hospital but not the Hermitage I think.

Edit: Laya website says Hermitage is covered as it is classed as a Private hospital not a High Tech hospital under the Simplicity plan.

These are all pretty good value and cover the various hospital levels

If you buy online I think you'll get an extra 10% off.
