Peter McVerry Trust 'disappointed' as CEO resigns
The Peter McVerry Trust has confirmed that the CEO Francis Doherty tendered his resignation to the board of directors this morning, as the organisation faces serious financial issues.

Several millions paid in relation to Avalon House, Aungier Street - doesn't appear to have housed a single homeless person - it doesn't have necessary planning permission or fire cert. Unclear who the money is even being paid to, or why.
According to the finance reports the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DHRE) paid €2.36m for Avalon House in 2020, €2.3m in 2021 and €2.4m in 2022. It notes the service provider through those years as the Peter McVerry Trust.. A spokesperson for the DRHE says the building is not currently used for anything, but that the Department of Housing has approved funding for renovations so it can be used again.

Did they actually finance Avalon House directly tho? My understanding is that the capital borrowings for AHBs (which PMVT comes under) finances the borrowings to purchase buildings for use by the charity, but the DHRE is paying for *services* rendered. The article doesn't mention anything about capital financing / purchase of the property... The article was raising questions as it wasn't clear why DHRE were paying the monies or even who the recipient of the monies were. But that DHRE noted PMVT as the service provider.
