Does anybody here like in the Curragh area (Co. Kildare) and travel to Dublin?

What is it like and what do you predict it will be like after the N7 roadworks?

Re: The Curragh

The commute to Dublin is a nightmare. It may improve slighlty when the repairs are completed (3 lanes from Naas interchange and no traffic lights) provided trucks buses etc abide by the rules not allowed in the fast lane etc. Currently a hugh number of trucks use this road. Can be a little intimitating when driving between two trucks especially in the rain with the spray coming off them.

Currently you need to be on the road by 6.30 at the latest to avoid most of the traffic. Approx 45 min at present to Newlands cross this should reduce to less than 30min then 30 min at 7.00 to city centre. Then where to park?? Leaving any later could take over 2 hours to go approx 25 miles on a good day. If its raining diaster. Accidents also happen on a regular basis even before the roadworks. As space is at a premium if you obey the recommendation of the 2 second rule drivers will pull in in front of you without warning. You then pull back and another driver pulls in. Nightmare

Coming home should be a vast improvement. No traffic lights from Newlands Cross

There are various options of getting to Dublin apart from the car.
You could travel by rail to Heuston station and then by luas /bus to city centre or bus to leeson st. Train journey is approx 30 to 40 min Bus to city centre is approc 15 min and leeson strees is approx 25 to 30 min. In the morning there are approx 6 trains leaving every 20 min that will get you in to city centre before nine although there will be standing room only on the trains leaving Newbridge from 7.50 to 8.20.
