WE are currently looking at a house exchange holiday in the Carolinas next summer (our 6th exchange). We know next to nothing about the area but it reads and looks beautiful. Has anyone been there or know anything about it?

Did a home exchange about 15 years ago to North Carolina, Raleigh Durham. My memories of it are that we really enjoyed the place. At the time our children were around 9/11. They made friends with the children next door and would go to local pool etc with them. The people were very friendly and fascinated by our accents and that we choose to come there on holiday! Equally we found them to be very warm and friendly. Our exchange was based in Raleigh Durham which is a small city. We travelled to the Peak of Otter national park in Virginia and stayed there for a few nights which was really beautiful. I also remember going on tour of a tobacco plantation which was owned by Duke family. We were there about 10 days and after that we went on to a second exchange to Amelia Island in north of Florida. We have done over 10 home exchanges and found them all to be a fantastic way to holiday as you are able to see and do things that the usual holiday does not offer.

Hope that helps and enjoy your holiday !!
