Teenager opening first bank account

Hi

My teenager is looking to open his first bank account as he has started a part time job and salaries are paid into bank accounts.

My family has been with danske bank since year dot but I am wondering if there are other banks he should look at, and is there anything in particular to look out for when considering options?

Hi Phoenix,

As suggested above, read the best buys.

If he is aged 12 to 17 and has under 20,000 EUR to save then he might be best off with Permanent TSB with their My Cash account.

My now 16 year old opened an AIB student account when he started in 1st year of secondary school. He has a laser card. We are very happy with it - no overdraft facility allowed and no charges.
