does anyone have an idea how much a taxi would cost for 4 adults and 2 children to get from Tenerife South Reina Sofia airport to Playa de las Americas

It should cost you about €20. There is a number you can ring (tel: +34(0)922 64 11 12) just incase this is out of date. You may want to find out if they have taxi's that can accommodate 6 people and if you can request one, they might charge more for this but will most likely be less than €40 ( the cost of 2 taxi's )
Samanthajane has a point about being able to get a taxi that can accommodate the number of people.
I would say it is very handy and easy to get the bus. about 4 euro return I think from my last trip in Jan. Very efficient service I felt.
Paid €25 for two in February. Have never seen people carrier taxi's, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Met others there who had used the bus and were very happy with it.
