HSBC NI tell me they won't allow you to exempt yourself from UK tax on interest on their Euro account (International Personal Savings Account) even though they will on a Sterling account (!). What is the tax implication of this for an Irish resident? Does this mean I would need to claim back the tax from the UK revenue, then declare the gross in my tax return? I looked at this: Irish Tax Implications of Foreign Income & Assets but am very confused...
