Tax Free income from Cruise work

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but a search is not throwing up any relevant info.

I am possibly going to work for a cruise line, working 6 months on and then 2 off. The company inform me that my wages will be tax free.

Is this possible? Surely I should be paying tax or even PRSI here? I know the max time I could spend in Ireland in any given year would be 120 days. Does this exclude me from paying tax? I also want to make sure my credits are kept up for a Contributory Pension when I retire.

I'd be very grateful for any info before I sign any contracts.
