hi guys , i worked as a taxi driver from april 2007 until april 2008 , as it was part time i realised it was costing me as much to run it, as what i was making and didnt like it anyway. Problem is never filed tax returns for these years , i have recieved forms from the tax office but never returned them , will i be better off getting an accountant or try filing them in or try do it myself. will i incur charges .
thank you in advance

Your 2007 return and accounts to 31 December 2007 should have been submitted and any tax liability paid by 31 October 2008.

You will have a surcharge of 10% of the tax outstanding and may be charged interest on late payment of tax.

I would suggest that you get help with your accounts as the capital allowances claims for taxi drivers is not straightforward.

Under revenue commencemrny rules, the 2007 and 2008 returns are both due on 31 October 2009. Therefore there should be no penalties on the 2007 return. Get an accountant asap.
