Hi, I'm hoping I can get some advice here. My Young Adult child is disabled and claims disability allowance of around €188/week and is totally dependent on us. I am trying to find out if I can claim the adult child's tax credits (i.e.single persons tax credit plus employee allowance). Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks in advance.

Hello

I’m not entirely sure of your question.. but you can’t claim his tax credit despite the fact you care for him- that being his paye credit and single person credit.

This links to the Incapacitated Child Credit to which you my be entitled. It also explains how to claim.

If your (adult) child is regarded as being permanently incapacitated, you are entitled to a tax credit of €3,300 per annum.
