stopping neighbours cats using my garden as toilet

Hi folks. How do I stop neighbours cats from using my back garden as a toilet? They are doing their business in a grassy area near my washing line which you can imagine is quite disgusting when stood on and brought into the house.
 
Its usually a phase they'll grow out off.

You can get an automatic water sprinkler for this. no idea if it works.
 
I didn't check teh links above to see if this was in it, but a poster once recommended getting a bucket of tiger "dung" from Dublin zoo, and putting it in your garden. Apparently, this was to convince your neighbour's cats that they were now trespassing on a VERY BIG CAT's patch! I thought it sounded funny anyway.
