Stamp UK/Ireland

Hi, I am on long term illness benefit. When applying for this benefit. I had not built up enough Stamp in Ireland. So Community Welfare Officer applied to UK where I had 20 years of paid Stamp, so to fit criteria for Illness Benefit. My query is will/could this affect my UK pension, I am only 43 and its a long way off. But would good to know, any help or advice would be gratefully recieved. Thankyou, and regards.

Nope. Your sick benefit should not affect your entitlement to UK pension but with 20 years NI contributions paid perhaps it may be worth your while continuing paying further contributions to increase your UK pension in the future. Contact the Dept of Works and Pensions for a forecast.
You will of course be paying Irish PRSI when you get back to work again so pensions from both countries may be an option for you
