All,

If i went with REA as my mortgage broker
will REA refund my commision even through i have originally organised my own solicitor, and a seperate mortgage broker (who will be dropped if the anwer is yes) when the 10% deposit was handed over (new build back 6months ago)

see below extract

Say you are applying for a €170,000 mortgage on a house valued at €230,000
You arrange it REA Mortgage package

REA fee €0,... €1,995

Solicitors fees €2,350,..... included

Commission refund €0,..... -€1,700

Total cost to you €2,350,..... €295

That's a saving of €2,155 upfront and it doesn't take account of any savings you might make on the mortgage repayments, which could also be very substantial over the life of a mortgage.

To avail of the commission refund you'd need to use a REA panel solicitor. The fee is €1995 + VAT (€2413.95) to include the panel solicitor's professional fee but excluding legal outlays and, in your example, a refund of €1700 meaning a net cost to you of €713.95. There are branches in Bray, Dublin, Gorey, Newbridge, Swords and Waterford.
