Hi! Sinewave and Askar, thanks for your replies. Askar, my solicitor knew it was an auction, as it was only when I had decided on an auction that I negotiated the price with him. I take your very relevant point about negotiating a fee for private treaty if property does not sell at auction or any subsequent visits to Dublin - I hadn't thought about this. Thanks.
