Hi,
I'm looking at a skoda octavia - 1.4 petrol, 2004, 28,000 miles - for €13,500. It looks like good value to me, and comments about the octavia on this forum seem to be generally positive.
In terms of fuel consumption, how economical are the 1.4 petrol model ?? They look a little heavy to me for a 1.4 engine, (not even sure if this makes any difference, fuelwise), but I've never driven one before. I drive about 15,000 miles / year. Any feedback would be appreciated..
Cheers.

Underpowered imho. A big heavy body too.

On a long run consumption will be ok, but overtaking will be a pain. Urban driving will hurt at the pumps.

I think the diesels are better.

I have a 1.6L Octavia and it is the minimum engine size I would recommend. I can get ~40mpg on motorway driving.

Thanks folks. I'll have a look for a 1.6. Does anyone know any dealers, in the midlands preferably ?
