Skerries or Bray? (with a family)

Looking to trade up house-wise and really looking for our long-term family home.

Live in Skerries currently and love it. Our problem is that there are very few detached or larger houses in skerries that are any way affordable. There are many houses in Bray that I find affordable and our dream houses for us.

We rented in Bray years ago and frustratingly bought in Skerries because we couldn't afford Bray. Now we can afford our dream home in Bray but not Skerries!

BUT, four kids later we find ourselves very well integrated into a village we love.....

Are worried about moving the kids from school (all are in primary) and starting over again. On the other hand there are houses that we can well afford in Bray and we love the area and it's proximity to Wicklow walks/mountains. We're too cramped in our current house, need to move but can't find what we want in Skerries....

Skerries is wonderful for kids. How about Bray??

Have you thought about Greystones or another town along the coast? Skerries is lovely too.

I do like the seafront in Bray and it has some nice pubs there.

However, only yesterday I was walking along Bray mainstreet and could not get over the amount of young kids I saw looking to cause trouble. I would not like to live there, but like you have seen many nice houses in Bray.

The traffic is also mad there, nearly always queues in and out of it to the N11.

There are also plenty of comments on various aspect of Bray in the Wicklow section of boards.ie and probably here:

Hope that helps!
