I have a small few shares held in a Davys Stockbroker Account.
As I don't plan to sell them for a several years, I was wondering if I should take back the share certificates and hold them myself?
The cost of maintaining the account is 80 euro plus vat 16.80, which is more then any dividends I receive.
Will it cost me anything to close this account or should I transfer them to another stock brokers?

Hi Brown, the cost of most broker accounts is expensive with annual charges being as you describe.
I would take the cert & formally close the custody account. You should ask Davy can you remain on as a client so if you want to buy more equities in future you would be able to.
I would recommend NIB as their online trading platform is very good & you can buy fixed income securities (Irish govt bonds!)
Also Campbell O'Connor allow clients buy & obtain certs directly.
Finally you can get a Crest account for eur50 pa thru said Campbell O'Connor.
Hope this helps
