Selling in Spain/Italy

Hi

We have started selling our product in Spain & Italy, via an agent. He has convinced us it is better he invoice the customers. As he will have more chance of getting paid than a foriegn company.

I am now not happy with having no control over the payments. All order are approx 2000-3000, i cannot get credit insurance for these amounts.

Can express any advice about selling and getting paid from these 2 countries to the retail industry.

From my experience dealing in Italy and Spain is very difficult. To set-up a business in Italy takes a huge amount of effort - ever wonder why the finance police have more power than the Civil police? Because business is crooked!

If you trust the agent or can get credit insurance on agent, your life will be easier, I believe.

I would exercise extreme caution. Feedback that I've received is that business dealings in Italy are notoriously precarious.

Why do you need to use a locally based agent? There are plenty of agents or indivduals you could used in Ireland.
