Motor Rodent damage and car insurance

Hi,

Unusual one here, our neighbours car has been attacked by a large rodent!! A rat has gotten inside!!! Eaten through dash wiring etc and looks like car will have to be rewired at least!
Anyone know if fully comp insurance would cover this ?

This actually happened to me. Something chewed through wires, including the wire for the immobliser which meant I had to get a recovery truck. I have comprehensive insurance but the insurance company (Chartis) would not cover it. A local auto electrician fixed it, total cost including the recovery truck was €150 which was a lot less than I thought it would be.
