I am retired from HSE for over 12 years and have recently returned to work with HSE again. Why am I paying superannuation again and can this service be counted for pension purposes? I am over 60 years of age

Superannuation is mandatory, it has to be deducted.

I'm not familiar with pensions. I'd ask the local Superannuation section

Superannuation deduction is correct. However, when next you leave the HSE your rate of pension might increase (depending on your contract).

You will now be in the Single pension scheme and will get a separate pension from that. Are you paying a pension abatement? This happens if you earn more between pension and job than you did in last job before you retired.
