Question

My daughter is living at home and pays me monthly money for this. She is working and paying tax

Can she declare she is renting and get rent relief on the tax she pays?
Can I declare the money she is giving me under the rent a room scheme? so i do not have to pay any tax on this money.

Or because we are mother daughter are we exempt from doing this?

Finally under the rent a room scheme do I even have to declare the rental money on my annual form 11?

Your daughter can't make the claim as you are related. That was brought in in 2007 I think.

I'm not sure about your obligation to declare it (given that she's your daughter) but, if in doubt, I would do. The fact that she lives in your home would see it exempt under rent-a-room as long as total rents received don't exceed €10,000.
