Removing self adhesive border from wall

We have a self adhesive border on the wall in our little boy's room (not so little anymore) - in the process of redecorating - how do we get it off the wall cleanly? Any suggestions???

A steamer would be a good way of getting off cleanly

Thought of that - would that work for the "sticky stuff" that the border seems to be leaving behind?
