I was at a Management Company AGM last week and the community garda spoke. He said that if we have tenant's moving in, all we have to do is get their names and date of birth and give this to somebody on the management committee. This person would then contact the guard, and a check would be carried out.
He did say that he wouldn't provide personal information on the person (if it exists), but he would say that an answer like "I'd be happy to rent the apartment to that person" or "I wouldn't be happy to rent the apartment".
While it's reassuring to have this service, is it legal??
