Hi all,
We recently went to see a house and are considering purchasing it.
The house in out in the country with farm land around it. The house is on quite a steep hill - approx. 2/3 of the way down the hill - and a large farming field behind it.
If we were to purchase we would get a Structural Engineer to inspect as part of a PrePurchase report. Would they look at flood risks? And the/any risk of the hills water causing any damage to the house / garden etc..?
Is there any other type of professional I should think about getting involved?

Appreciate any guidance or thoughts.

we live in a house in a similar situation. our house is on the side of a lane, and when it rains heavily we have a small river running down the lane. The house is 100 years old so whoever put the house and lane there knew how to funnel the water away from house so we never have any issue. House never at risk of flooding either. During heavy rain we had a small wall at the back collapse as the earth pushed it a bit.

it might be handy for you to drive up if there's any heavy rain, and also call in and ask the neighbours. we got all the info about our house from them.
