Receiving money from a lottery winner - taxable?

You probably opened this to see how much I'm getting, well sorry but its only a hypothetical question that popped into my head. More's the pity, eh.

If a friend of mine won the Euromillions jackpot and wanted to give me a few million, would it be taxed?

Yes, 30% CAT, miserly 16,250 or so tax free threshold if not related (and assuming all threshold unused), annual 3k also comes off but then hit with 30%.

If a winner wants to give you money from the lotto and avoid any taxes on it I think they need to put your name down on the ticket prior to submitting claim.
