pump problem

I have tenants in a two bed apartment. There are having problem with the pump i.e. when they turn on a tap, shower etc on comes the pump but stays on. In some cases its stayed on a few hours and they eventually have to switch off at the fuse box.

I have seen the problem myself - called in on Saturday when they rang. Switched on at fuse and on came the pump straight away without a tap one (even though it had been off for at least an hour.)

Got a plumber in and of course everything ran smoothly. Turned on tap and on came the pump nice and smooth. Turn off the tap and off went the pump in seconds.

Has anyone had similar problems or have any ideas what the cause might be ?

Sounds like the flow switch is faulty. You should record the make and model and then find the distributer. They will help you sort your problem.

Flow switch might have some grit in it that prevents it from cutting out.

Sounds like an overhaul or a replacement of the switch.
