Hi

I am am preparing to exhibit a range of furniture at an exhibiton in london. To do this we need to take public liability insurence. can anybody tell me if it is possible to get this for a short period like 1-2 weeks? Has anybody got any recomendations or suggestions for companies they have used?

thanks

Re: public liability insurence for tradeshow

The trade show organisers usually include insurance in the cost of exhibiting.
BTW I hope you used Enterprise Ireland to part fund the cost of the trade show.

Re: public liability insurence for tradeshow

I have done loads of trade shows with and without EI and have never taken public liability insurance as it has been covered by the show organisers.
I have never done one in the UK.

I have done many trade shows also, in the RDS and they insist on you providing your own insurance. We simply contacted our Isurance company and transferred our PL Insurance from our shop across to the trade show for the weekend. It cost us €50 admin fee and that was with Quinn Direct (not affiliated)

How much to they typically contribute and is there loads of paperwork involved?

It will be the same for us 50% up to a max of €5000. The enterprise have been really brilliant, I dont think we could do it without them!

I just had to do it for the first time for an external trade show instead of an internal one. I was recommended the small trader and markets association, IOMST, who gave me public liability for one year for €250, for all shows and markets I participate in. Tel no, 01 8302271. I've no connection with them.

That sounds good propman, I will definatly have a look. Currently looking at a specialist exhibition insurer so we will see how that goes.

thanks for your help

Apart from public liability insurance, if you are displaying any goods at the show you may consider getting them insured.
