Hi there, - was think of using Protim mixed with a little Cresote to brush onto my garden fence - do you think this is okay ?

Thanks

Mixing anything with Protim will likely affect its ability to soak into the wood and ultimately it's performance.

Cresote is no longer available to purchase over the counter and is only available to purchase under license by fencing contractors. What you get now in your farm supplies is a cresote substitute which is nowhere near as good as the real thing. The long life fencelife by Ronseal is probably as good as whats out there. It is supposed to last up to 5 years but depending how exposed to the elements your fence is, you should get a couple of years out of it.

What's wrong with Protim on it's own? We used it on our fence and it lasted for over 12 years - in fact it was the wind that took it down, it hadn't rotted!

Thanks Lads,

I only used the creaote subsitute with the protim to add a bit more punch to the protim and darken the colour a bit, the bottom line is that the protim is a good product to use on fences.
