Property Tax on new house

Hi everybody,

We're closing the sale for a house this week and the vendor has just told us that in addition to all the fees we have to pay part of the property tax he's already paid.
Is that what usually happens on closing a sale?
What other fees should we make sure he's paid?

Yes, this is usually the case.

This is a link to the Law Society’s Practice Notes. See paragraph 3.

However, if you are exempt from Local Property Tax, see paragraph 7.

Make sure the vendor has paid all his/her utility bills.
