I get UV light treatment on the public health system in Ireland. In Dublin, there is
a dedicated centre is based on St Vincents Hospital, which I am very impressed by. I don't know what facilities exist ourtside of Dublin.

Please PM me if you would like to discuss this more privately.

Regardless of whether you get private health insurance, you should immediately go to a GP , explain the details of your sons medical condition and ask for an emergency referral to a public consultant . There will be a waiting list for an initial consultantion so do it immediately. Once you are a patient of a consultant, you should be able to assess UV treatment quickly in a flare-up situation.

I know this is an old thread but if got some info about UV light therapy in Ireland my life could change for the better.
Two years ago I had to leave Dublin because I had very severe eczema and couldn't find a dermatologist. I was given an appointment with a specialist exactly 12 months after I was referred by a GP. At the time I was living in Ireland (I'm originally from Italy) had a nice job and a normal life.
When eczema started to get worse I had to leave Ireland because I simply couldn't live like that and wait for a year. My body was itchy, I was disfigured and I couldn't sleep at night. There seemed to be no way to solve the problem. Then I decided to go back to Italy (where life is harder in terms of job opportunities and cost of living) and there I was treated immediately for free (public health system). I am now going twice a week to hospital to get this UV light therapy in light boxes and I can live a normal life but as soon as I stop my treatments eczema gets worse again. I feel sad that I cannot have a normal life in Dublin and I had to go back to Italy leaving a job, a house and many friends (I lived in Dublin for almost 10 years). Does anybody know how I could solve this problem? I would like to get in touch with huskerdu but I'm new to this forum and still have to figure out how to send PMs.

I know that the private route is very expensive in Ireland and the public has long waiting lists...

If anybody knows how to solve this and find a way to get UV light treatment in Dublin...that would be appreciated and make a huge difference!
Thanks a lot in advance.
