Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum. Please move if necessary.

I'm considering doing a one year M.A. commencing January 2013.

The fee for the year is €5750.

I am self-employed. Is the fee tax deductable?

If not, is there anything else I should be considering in terms of funding my course?

Many thanks.

D.

I'm a photographer & the MA is in visual arts practice. But, it isn't as specific as, say, a course in Photoshop.

Thanks.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's "visual arts practice"?

In order to get a Case I (i.e. trading) deduction for an expense, it must be wholly and exclusively incurred for the purposes of the trade.

If the MA in visual arts practice is clearly going to benefit your photography business and is clearly related to it, then in my view you should be entitled to a Case I deduction for the course fee.
