Hi,

I have just got Solar panels installed. The Installer wanted 70% upfront, which I paid to BIC/IBAN by Bank transfer.
Would it be better to pay the balance 30% (4k euro) with Credit Card?
I have AMEX - could I transfer that amount from my Bank account to my AMEX, and then use AMEX to make the Solar payment to BIC/IBAN?
Would I have some protection from AMEX, in case something goes wrong?
thank you

Possibly.

You could attempt a chargeback if the service isn’t the quality delivered.

Installer might not like it as they’d have to pay merchant fees of 1% or so.
The job is already done, and everything is fine...
... so maybe there is no need for CC for the balance...?
(but it would have been wiser to do that for the 70% upfront)

maybe if SEAI for some reason decide not to pay me the grant?

You took a massive risk, when you paid 70% in advance, particularly by bank transfer. You've been lucky, others were not....

If the job is completed, and the balance due, then you need to pay it, by whatever terms were agreed.
