I painted my front door red in the summer--sanded, undercoat and top coat, now I notice small bubbles rising under the paint in certain small spots which I didn't see before.not a huge amount but doesn't look good. What could I have done wrong? It looked great now I think I'll have to do it again.

I'm speaking from afar, but you didn't use a primer in your preparation. I'm also wondering what type of timber it was and if it was dry.

It sounds as if it is a hardwood door & if so it needs to be aluminium wood primed before undercoat & topcoat.

As hardwood is an oily timber, the aluminium wood primer locks the oil into the wood (where it should be) & allows the paint to stick properly
