Delighted for the 6,000 AIB customers who have won the prevailing rate issue -
"following a preliminary decision issued by the Financial Services and
Pensions Ombudsman, the Board understands that redress may be due to a previously identified group of
customers who had an option of a prevailing tracker rate. " - quote from thread linked above.
We took a case to the Ombudsman back in 2011 after First Active/Ulster Bank refused to return us to our tracker after fixing for 2 years (07-09). In 2012 the Ombudsman came to a conclusion and sided with the bank.
One of our main arguments was the mention of a prevailing tracker offering once the fixed term ended.
