% of income on mortgage...

Hi all
im wondering what people consider a reasonable proportion of a couples net disposable income which should be spent on mortgage payments. (Couple, one child).
Question is a bit vague i appreciate but just crunching some numbers and interested in peoples views.

general rule is 1/3rd I believe, but I guess it depends on the circumstances of the couple really
