Northern Ireland "Diplock Courts"

Hi everone,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this post, apologies in advance if it isn't.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether the non-jury Diplock courts are still in operation in Northern Ireland? (Its needed for a project I'm doing). Anything I can find suggests that they were still operational in 1999, but after that I'm drawing a blank.

Much appreciated!

I do not think that the Diplock Courts are still in use.

They may have been abolished or the the Emergency Powers under which the Diplock Courts operated may have been recinded or allowed lapse as the peace dividend kicked in over the last few years.

Needless to say the Republics version, The Special Criminal Court, is alive and well.

Regards

Aren't the some moves afoot to modify it or something (maybe formalise it or make it more permanent?) - while keeping it non jury?
