New Years in Ireland - where to go?

Hi,

myself and a few friends thinking of getting out of Dublin for new years eve and maybe head down the country. We're looking at booking a cottage in Lahinch, Clare. Has anyone been there for New Years before? Are the pubs busy/lively?
We're just afraid of travelling a long distance and ending up in a ghost town.

Any other recommendations along the western seaboard also warmly received.....
 
Bundoran is full of life on New Year's. It's a much livelier version of Lehinch and will most likely have some good bands on around New Year's. Good accomodation -
 
killarney has lots to offer on new years , a good lively town with many bars to choose from and lots of holiday homes to rent
 
Hi ya,
Kenmare in County Kerry is a great spot for New year. 3 streets... 25 or 26 pubs. Alot have music in them aswell. Spent last New Year there with friends.
