What will the take home pay be for someone who just started a new job in Ireland after years of living away.

Mid 40's female, single, lives in a rented house, no dependents/kids.

Salary is 28,000 euros p/a

Seeing as the year is half over, how do the tax thresholds work, in terms of what you pay if the total salary for the calender year will only be about 14,000 euros? Is there a threshold that you have to go over before you start paying anything? Or are you liable for the standard rate of tax, after you earn your very first penny?

What will be the total deductions be, when you factor in the Universal Social Charge too? Is anything else taken out at source?

Parking for the year is 1000 euros, which will be taken out of the pay check monthly. Does that reduce the taxable income to 27,000 p/a? As of now, there are no contributions being made to a pension or a health insurance plan, but that may change over time. How does the health insurance work and is it 100% deductible?

Thanks.
